Not a CookbookMar 11, 2010 First of all, I am a cook, I bought this book because I thought I'd get some kind of idea into his arty type food, maybe some recipes or technique, nothing...This is an art book, It is interviews with artists and writers talking about his food, Nothing from the chef, personally as a cook I don't care what artists and writers have to say about food. So if your looking for an art book, i'm sure this is a good one, if your serious about cooking look somewhere else.
A simply fascinating and amply rewarding browse for anyone who appreciates the culinary arts in generalFeb 11, 2010 Deftly compiled and expertly edited by the team of Richard Hamilton and Vicente Todoli, "Food for Thought: Thought for Food" is a profusely and impressively illustrated 400-page compendium showcasing the culinary artistry of Ferran Adria (Head Chef of elBulli, Barcelona). In addition to displaying Adria's superbly crafted culinary dishes, "Food for Thought: Thought for Food" includes a great deal of background information on both his personal and professional life. Of special note are the informed and informative essays on Adria contributed by other chefs and food critics. Enthusiastically recommended for academic and community library collection, "Food for Thought: Thought for Food" is a simply fascinating and amply rewarding browse for anyone who appreciates the culinary arts in general, and the gustatory genius of Ferran Adria in particular.
Great Art/Food bookDec 15, 2009 I love Ferran Adria's style and food. It is wonderful when you can relate art and food on the same level. I am a chef and besides the food, you can tell he makes emotional conections through food that gives you familuarity yet experience of the unknown.

if you like to think about food beyond a Rachel Ray 10 minute recipe....Nov 26, 2009 Get the book. If only for the pictorial history of all of Ferran Adria's work. At the Amazon price it's a lot of fun for the foodie home chef. Some of the Intellectual introspection on the food you can take or leave, but I found the viewpoints damned interesting. Food really can be art if you start with that thought!
Food as ArtAug 19, 2009 Ferran Adria is a true artist, and was invited to participate in an "exhibition" in Kassel. For 100 days (summer, 2007), 2 patrons of a gallery were invited to ElBulli, arguably the finest restaurant in the world, and provide some feedback to the gallery and restaurant. This book is the chronicle of that memorable summer.
Cooking is the world's oldest art. Chef Adria has taken the finest ingredients and transformed them into masterpieces. In his art form, the creations are more ephemeral. As well as a feast for the eyes, the art here involves touch, taste and smell.
I understand that ElBulli is closing next year. We can only hope that Chef Adria makes his art more available to the world.
